KREI implements both short- and long-term research projects on agriculture and rural issues.

Short-term projects seek to respond to farmers, the government and other related organizations with timely solutions to policy issues at hand. Long-term research addresses rural problems within an overall framework of the changing national economy..

Surveys

KREI conducts various surveys on agriculture and rural issues. Interviews and mail surveys are carried out to collect information on farmers'perceptions of agricultural and rural issues. In this regard, KREI operates a monitoring system consisted of more than 2,100 farmers nationwide.

Public Relation

KREI shares views and research results on agriculture and rural development with domestic and foreign governments, research institutes, universities, agribusiness organizations, the press, and others. To this end, KREI organizes seminars, symposia, conferences, and workshops on a wide range of topics.

Training

KREI's research staff actively participate in teaching activities both in Korea and abroad. KREI offers training opportunities to government officials, farm monitors, and others in the fields of agricultural economics, feasibility study techniques, survey methods, integrated rural development, etc. Many workshops are held at the request of local governments to provide ideas and information regarding the planning and implementing of integrated development projects in specific rural areas.
