□ Choi Song-hwa, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Council for Economics, Humanities, and Social Sciences, which was established under the office of Prime Minister, appointed research director Choi Jung-sup (52) as the 10th president of the KREI for a three-year term (tenure: September 29, 2005∼September 28, 2008) □ Dr. Choi Jung-sup, who was appointed as the 10th president of the KREI, was born in Gwangju, and graduated from Seoul National University, majoring in agricultural economy. He earned his master's degree from the same university, and his doctorate in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin. □ New President Choi Jung-sup served as the head of the trends analysis office, the head of the agricultural economy research division, and the head of the agricultural observation center at the KREI. Outside the KREI, he also worked as the secretariat head of the Society for Asian Agricultural Economy, a member of the presidential advisory council for rural and fishing villages development, a guest researcher of the University of California, USA, and an agricultural trade policy officer of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. □ In addition, he has conducted researches in various agricultural fields including agricultural trade and domestic/foreign agricultural policy. He has written and published a number of papers in those areas. |
