Agricultural Outlook 2006 to Be Held on Jan. 25 at Jamsil Lotte Hotel


The KREI will hold 'Agricultural Outlook 2006' on the subject of 'Status of Korean Rural Areas in the World' on January 25 (Wed), 2006 at Crystal Ballroom, Jamsil Lotte Hotel for a whole day starting from 9:00 a.m.

'Agricultural Outlook 2006' will be divided into four sessions.

In Session I, agricultural negotiations and economic outlook for farm households will be dealt with. Three presentations including 'Trend and Prospect of DDA and FTA', 'Outlook for Agriculture and Farm Household Economy', and 'Direction for Agricultural Policy Operation' will be made.

In Session II which touches upon agricultural policy, 'Trend in Agricultural Structure Change and Policy Tasks', 'Direction for Direct Payment Policy and Tasks', and 'Direction for Rural Welfare Policy in Aging Society' will be presented.

Session III will be divided into three tracks, including Northeast Asian trade, food safety, and rural areas/environment. In the track on Northeast Asian trade, 'China in the Future: Grain Exporter or Importer?', 'Current Status of North Korean Agriculture and Direction for South-North Agricultural Cooperation', and 'Trend and Prospect of Agricultural Import and Export' will be presented. In the track on food safety, 'Issues and Tasks Regarding Imported Agricultural Food Safety', 'Issues of Agricultural Food Labeling System and Direction for Development', and 'Purchase Behavior of Environmentally Friendly Agricultural Products and Market Outlook' will be presented. In the track on rural areas and environment, 'Urban Residents' Demand for Rural Living and Future Prospect of Rural Space', 'Trend and Outlook for Turning Biomass within Agriculture into Energy', and 'Carbon Emission Right Trade System and Effects on Forestry Management' will be presented.

In Session IV, which touches upon the industrial outlook and tasks, 'Trend and Outlook for Rice and Livestock Supply' and 'Outlook and Tasks Regarding Hay and Dried Straw Fodder' will be presented. In addition, the supply and demand trends and the prospect of vegetables, fruits, and fruit-bearing vegetables; the trend and tasks of the green tea and mushroom industries; and the trend and outlook for forestry products (chestnut and oak mushroom) will be presented.
