The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI, President Kim Changgil) hosted a Forum on Plans to Expand Agri-Food Export Markets jointly with the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation at the Korea Press Center’s International Conference Hall, August 31.

That day, KREI research director Kim Kyungphil made a presentation, “Consumption Features of Agri-Food Export Markets and Their Implications.” Kim said that strategies for increasing agri-food exports should be presented reflecting export markets’ consumption conditions.

Export Strategy Office Director Shin Hyeongon at Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corp. (aT) made a presentation, “Agri-Food Export Trends and Expansion Plans.” He stressed the following to increase the export of agri-food: strengthening support for agri-food made of domestic ingredients to improve farm household income; creating a stable export base of safe, high-quality produce and supporting the development of promising products; and diversifying export markets’ sales channels and establishing a system for supporting beneficiary-centered projects.

In his presentation, “Nonghyup’s Strategy for Expanding Agri-Food Exports,” Horticulture Department Director Lee Taekyong at Nonghyup Agribusiness Group Inc. stated the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation’s key plans to increase export. Director Lee said that importing countries should be diversified to boost export, and that Nonghyup would develop products customized to each nation and develop markets utilizing export hubs to enter and expand new markets.
