The purpose of this study is to suggest strategies how to revitalize the agro-food industry under the current mega-regionalization of economy and lifestyle in rural areas.
First, this research show the need for stimulating agro-food industry in rural area. Second, we analyze how the agro-food nurturing policies is proceeding and what the problems are. Third, recent case studies of agro-food industry is conducted such as Hessare marketing firm in common and Sunchang-gun red pepper paste cluster. Lastly this study suggests strategies how to stimulate the agro-food industry in rural areas.
The finding of this research is provided as the following. Agro-food nurturing policies need to include two facets: differentiation and cooperation. Differentiation is to focus quality of agricultural products yielded in a small area. Cooperation is to develop mega-region's brand through which neighboring areas should cooperate with.
