Research Background
As a response to changing food consumption behaviors, it is necessary to conduct multifaceted surveys on food consumption on a regular basis. In South Korea, however, government-approved statistics regarding food consumption focused only on food spending, while surveys on other areas remained insufficient to show the overall aspects of food consumption behaviors.
To identify food consumption behaviors in detail and utilize the information as the basis for analysis in marketing and developing a food policy, it is needed to conduct a regular survey on food consumption behavior with representative samples.
Research Methodology
For the 2022 survey, we designed a composite sample using newly extracted samples from Statistics Korea as well as the existing sample of the 2021 survey.
The areas included in the survey are:
- Food purchase and consumption behaviors
- Consumers’ perceptions of diets (with regard to food, nutrition and health)
- Food consumer characteristics
- Eating out patterns
- Consumers’ satisfaction with their diets
- The current status of diet education and promotion
- Lifestyles
