Purpose of the Research
○ Since its establishment, the Korea Rural Economic Institute(KREI) has maintained a system of selecting local respondents from rural communities. Each year, the KREI surveys these respondents to understand the changes in farmers’ opinions. The inclusion of urban residents in the survey pool in 2006 allowed the KREI to track the changes in the viewpoints of both farmers(producers) and urban residents(consumers and taxpayers) regarding agriculture and rural areas. This survey enabled the KREI to identify policy demands.
