Background and purpose
○With demographic changes and an increase in households raising companion animals in the country, interest in pet welfare is rising, and the government is actively promoting companion animal welfare policies. Additionally, to effectively establish and implement companion animal welfare policies, it is essential to systematically and specifically understand the current state of companion animal welfare-related aspects.

○The purpose of this study is to identify the current state and issues in companion animal welfare by examining companion animal care businesses and pet-owning households amidst the growing importance of companion animal welfare and the increasing number of households raising companion animals. By reviewing international cases and assessing the demand for companion animal welfare policies, this study aims to propose improvement tasks to enhance pet welfare in the country.
