Purpose of Research
○To address the accelerating depopulation and aging of rural areas, as well as the concentration of firms and population in the Seoul metropolitan region, the government has sought to introduce an alternative demographic concept as a basis for policy transformation. However, both the national living-population system and local-level programs remain in their early stages and exhibit several limitations. Enhancing the effectiveness of government policies requires diverse research efforts, including quantitative analyses of living-population trends and case studies on the effectiveness of related programs and institutional frameworks. This study aims to examine the current status and changes of the “living population,” identify the economic and social conditions under which an increase in the rural living population contributes to regional revitalization, and propose strategies to promote such contributions.
