KREI hosts a discussion on farmers’ employment insurance and labor conditions KREI hosted a virtual discussion with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs on January 27 to share opinions on the application of employment insurance and labor condition improvement in agriculture. The meeting was prepared to listen to views for expanding employment insurance coverage for farmers and identify policy tasks regarding the national roadmap for employment insurance the government announced last year. The first session of the discussion presented experts’ opinions on the feasibility of employment insurance for farmers, the review of related laws along with changes in agricultural employment conditions, and accidental coverages for farmers and labor conditions. In the second session, MAFRA (the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs) officials and representatives from the academic, media, and agricultural communities shared opinions on expanding employment insurance in agriculture. They also discussed relevant issues, such as income information, labor verification, and the definition of employment in consideration of characteristics in the farming industry. |
