KREI holds a forum to boost rural communities through school revitalization KREI held its first field forum to boost rural communities through school revitalization in Namhae-gun, South Kyeongsang Province, on May 13. Rural communities have recently seen their pre-teen and teen populations shrink continuously. As a result, many schools in rural communities are on the verge of closing down. There are voices that cooperation between schools and local communities will be the key to successful rural education. The KREI President Hong-Sang Kim said, “Many rural schools and their communities have worked together to utilize their abundant assets such as rural landscapes. Such innovative movements are in the right direction. We all should participate in discussions to help schools initiate various local activities.” |
