 Wahyu Priatno

multilateral cooperation at International Cooperation Bureau,

Ministry of Agriculture Indonesia

I am Wahyu Priatno from Indonesia. Currently I am working for multilateral cooperation at International Cooperation Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture as programme officer.

Through KIAHS/GIAHS management training organized by KREI which was held in Korea, I gained very important experience and knowledge about local agricultural wisdom.

This program provides the best learning to increase knowledge and understanding of agricultural and rural development policies in South Korea and increase experience and expertise in planning and implementing rural development policies and programs through the agricultural sector.

Through this training, I was able to comprehend how to propose and manage GIAHS sites comprehensively, understand Korean policies on KIAHS/GIAHS in the context of agricultural development, and be able to learn Korean best practices on managing GIAHS sites in identifying, formulating and conserving GIAHS sites.

This can inspire me that, if we want to have better progress we must continue to strive, work hard and build cooperation with related parties professionally to build and manage the local wisdom of agriculture that we have.

As a challenge now and in the future and become trouble in the world, how we can convince young people that the agricultural sector is a very important part of life. Without agriculture there is no life.

Currently, Indonesia through Ministry of Agriculture is proposing agricultural heritage systems to GIAHS. We are going to propose some of agricultural heritage system in Indonesia such as Spider Paddy Field and Snake Fruit Orchard.

We can improve the proposal of GIAHS sites base on lesson learn, knowledge and understanding of agricultural and rural development policies in South Korea in the context of agricultural development managing GIAHS sites by the experiences of Korea.

Many thanks for KREI and Korean Government.
