On April 27, 2011 President Oh Se-Ik of Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) signed a research cooperation agreement with General Manager Ruud Huirne of the Agricultural Economics Institute (LEI) and the Department of Social Sciences at Wageningen University and Research Center (WUR) while on a visit to the Netherlands.
Under the agreement the two research institutes will conduct joint research on issues of mutual interest, such as green growth in the agricultural sector, agricultural trade, and economic analysis of livestock diseases. For this year, the two sides decided to conduct joint research on green growth strategies in the field of agriculture in the Netherlands and the European Union.
President Oh also met with Aalt Dijkhuizen, President and Chairman of Executive Board of Governors of Wageningen University on April 28. In the meeting, the two presidents exchanged views on ways for bilateral cooperation and agreed to cooperate in short and mid-term training of researchers, researcher exchanges, and the sharing of ideas on various research programs.
