The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) concluded an MOU with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) on July 7 in Washington DC in the USA.

KREI President Choi Sei-kyun and IFPRI Director General Shenggen Fan signed the MOU that focused on joint research and exchange of human resources to promote cooperation and exchange.

Through this MOU, the two institutions will conduct joint research related to the operation of IFPRI’s International Model for Policy Analysis of Agricultural Commodities and Trade (IMPACT) that can be utilized for impact measurement of climate change, food supply and demand, and global trade. And KREI will expand policy development and research collaboration in the field of international agricultural partnership including plans to apply Korea’s Saemaul Movement experience to developing countries’ agricultural development.

From KREI, President Choi, Research Director Kim Chang-gil, and Senior Research Fellow Moon Han-pil attended the MOU signing ceremony with Agriculture Minister-Counselor Park Byung Hong of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the USA. From IFPRI, Director General Fan and about 10 researchers attended the event.
