 The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held an international workshop with Taiwan's Council of Agriculture (COA) on October 20 at the medium conference room. KREI researchers and about 10 visitors from Taiwan including COA director Chih-Sheng Chang, public officials, and scholars attended the event. KREI President Choi Seikyun said, "Korea and Taiwan have similar difficulties in the agricultural sector including the rice industry," emphasizing the necessity for an understanding of and cooperation for the two countries' agriculture. At the workshop, KREI research director Ma Sangjin made a presentation titled "The Current Status of Fostering Agricultural Workforce in Korea and System Benchmarking." After the presentation, the participants from the two institutions discussed major agricultural policy issues of the two nations such as the problem of agricultural labor. |
