The Korea Rural Economic Institute hosted the "Korea-China-Japan International Seminar for Promoting CSA for an Urban-Rural Win-Win" jointly with the Chungnam Institute on March 24. This event aimed at examining the present status of Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) in Korea, China, and Japan and vitalizing it. CSA experts and field activists from the three nations attended the seminar, provided a blueprint for future agriculture, and sought concrete implementation plans.

Professor Hatano Takeshi of Mie University in Japan, Vice-president Shi Yan of the International Network for Community Supported Agriculture from China, and Professor Yun Byeongseon of Konkuk University were invited as the three countries' CSA specialists, and made a presentation on each nation's current state and tasks of CSA. Professor Yun, who introduced the present situation and challenges of Korean CSA, regarded a high number of small-scale farms and consumers' high trust in local food as the biggest reasons for the expansion of local food in Korea. He forecasted that local food including farmers' markets and CSA would expand continually because it has been positively evaluated by both producers and consumers due to a variety of economically and socially positive aspects.
