Choi Jung-Sup, president of the Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI), signed a memorandum of understanding for mutual cooperation in research with Song Hongyuan, director general of the Research Center for Rural Economy at the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture. In the MOU signed on July 15, KREI and the Research Center for Rural Economy, the hub of agricultural research in China, agreed to conduct joint research on issues of mutual interest and exchange researchers and research materials of various kinds. As a result of the agreement, it is expected that KREI’s research of Chinese agriculture, which wields significant influence on Korean agriculture, will be reinvigorated by making it possible to study Chinese agriculture and its trends in depth through joint research and co-hosting of seminars. Prior to the signing of the MOU, President Choi delivered a lecture to a number of Chinese researchers, ministry officials, and professors on the outlook for the world’s food supply and Korea’s policy path in response to changes in the global environment of farming. |
