The Korea Rural Economic Institute will hold the Agricultural Outlook 2012 conference on Feb. 2nd at Lotte Hotel in Jamsil, Seoul. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. under the theme of "Rediscovering Rural Values for Rural-Urban Coexistence." The industry outlook conference will focus on finding ways to support the mutual growth of cities and rural villages and presenting a new paradigm for Korean agriculture and rural villages in the global era.
The event will consist of three sessions. Session 1 will be held under the theme of "World Economy and the Outlook of Korean Agriculture" and cover the following topics: global economic crisis and Korea's economic outlook, revitalization of rural Korea and returning to rural communities, agricultural policy in 2012, agriculture and rural communities in 2012, and the outlook of the food industry. Session 2 will be a special session and presentations will be made about agricultural development initiative under the FTA regime, revitalization of rural areas and job creation, improvement of quality of life of rural residents, and connection between agriculture and the food industry. Session 3 will cover commodity outlook and related issues with presentations to be made on the following topics: rice and grains, fruits and vegetables, livestock industry, forestry, and climate change.
