 The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) ran a New Year congratulatory ceremony and a policy meeting hosted by the National Research Council for Economics, Humanities and Social Sciences (NRC) on January 3 (Tues.). The New Year congratulatory ceremony, held in the main conference room of KREI that morning, was attended by NRC Chairman Kim Junyoung and heads of 25 affiliated research institutes, and included the opening, cutting rice cakes for celebration, and taking commemorative photographs. In his welcoming speech, KREI President Kim Changgil introduced KREI's three key plans for this year as follows: establishment of the new government's agricultural policy and substantial research; creation of a convergence research ecosystem through the strengthening of domestic and international networks; and KREI in high spirits through communication and harmony. Particularly, President Kim said that this year KREI will strengthen joint research for future industries. NRC Chairman Kim Junyoung asked each research institution to play a central role through related policy research in 2017. In the afternoon, the policy meeting was held at the Korea Electric Power Corporation in Gwangju-Jeonnam Joint Innovative City. In the meeting, the institutions presented their current situation and major plans for this year, and shared issues. In particular, most heads of the institutes who attended the event that day agreed to strengthen cooperation among the institutions, realizing the importance of joint research. |
