  • Purpose of Research
❍This study was conducted to improve the livestock epidemic control system. Through data-based analysis, the outbreak of livestock infectious diseases, patterns of disease spread, and antibody positivity rates were examined. The first-year study focused on Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), while the second-year study (this project) targeted Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) and African Swine Fever (ASF).

    Research Method
❍To develop improvement measures for epidemic prevention systems against FMD and ASF through data-based analysis, the research proceeded with the following steps: ① Literature review and expert consultation. A comprehensive literature review and consultation with experts were conducted to gather information on the outbreak and response to FMD and ASF, leading to the identification of critical issues within the prevention system. ② Policy analysis and improvement tasks. Domestic FMD and ASF prevention policies were thoroughly investigated and analyzed to derive actionable improvement tasks. ③ GIS-based analysis of livestock density and ASF outbreaks. GIS programs were utilized to analyze the density of livestock farms and identify spatial patterns of ASF outbreaks in swine farms. ④ Farm surveys. Surveys were conducted in livestock farms to gain an understanding of the current situation and gather valuable insights and opinions from stakeholders. ⑤ Data-based analysis of vaccine antibody positivity rates and ASF outbreak risks. In collaboration with research institutes, which are KIET and CNU, data analysis models were employed to assess FMD vaccine antibody positivity rates and evaluate ASF outbreak risks. ⑥ International case studies. International cases were explored to investigate and analyze the occurrence and prevention systems of FMD and ASF. ⑦ Data-based response measures: Based on the comprehensive data analysis, efficient response measures for FMD and ASF were formulated.
