The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) held a policy research council meeting on the 4th industrial revolution with the Rural Development Administration (RDA) in the main conference room on Feb. 17.
 

At the opening ceremony, KREI President Kim Changgil said that the two institutions need to "actively cope with issues in the fields of understanding of agricultural and rural policy and technology, data sharing and so on, and communicate by each field as well as at the institutional level." RDA Administrator Chung Hwangkeun agreed to respond to the future through closer cooperation.
 

In this meeting, specialists from the two institutions made presentations on the 4th industrial revolution, and had a discussion. Kim Sangcheol, RDA's Farming Automation Division head, made a presentation on the "Current Status and Future Direction of Smart Farm Technology," and KREI research director Kim Yeanjung on the "Fourth Industrial Revolution and Agriculture and Rural Areas."
 

After the presentations, the experts at the two institutions discussed responses of Korean agriculture and rural regions in the era of the 4th industrial revolution, cooperation methods between the institutions, the sharing and standardization of data including statistics, and large companies' participation in agriculture, and agreed to cooperate closely in various fields.
