Kanayo F. Nwanze, president of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), paid a visit to Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) on August 27 and held talks with Choi Sei-Kyun, president of KREI, on issues of mutual concern related to international food security and rural development in developing countries. During the visit, President Nwanze also attended a presentation delivered by senior KREI researcher Heo Jang, who explained about the KAPEX program which was launched by the institute to disseminate Korea's experience of having made agricultural policy achievements to developing countries concerning food security and the institute's plan for future collaboration with IFAD. In response to KREI's proposal to establish a joint academy sponsored by the two organizations, IFAD said it will positively review the proposal and proceed with discussions on signing an MOU for continuous cooperation. |
