The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) announced that Dr. Kim Chang-Gil of KREI was unanimously elected as the next chair of the OECD's Joint Working Party on Agriculture and Environment (JWPAE) at its 36th meeting held on November 4~5, 2013, at the OECD headquarters in Paris, France.  

   Established in 1993, the Joint Working Party on Agriculture and Environment is an OECD's working body that discusses agricultural issues connected with environmental matters such as climate change, water resource management, and green growth.

   Dr. Kim, who received his doctorate in agricultural economics at the Oklahoma State University, is currently serving as the Director of Research Planning and Coordination at the research institute.

   Kim has participated in the meetings of the joint working party for 14 years since 2000 and played a leading role in the development of OECD's agricultural environment indicators during his tenure as vice chair of the working group which he has served for seven years to date.
