Jeju Mini-Outlook Conference for Stabilizing Mandarin and Fruit Tree Supply and Demand

The Korea Rural Economic Institute (KREI) hosted a mini-outlook conference for the stabilization of supply and demand of mandarins and fruit trees jointly with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services (director: Kang Seonggeun) at Jeju Farmers' and Fishermen's Hall on Feb. 22. The event was attended by about 200 people from the local government, the Agricultural Cooperative, and the Agricultural Technology Center as well as farmers and producer groups in Jeju.
 

Beginning with Jeju Governor Won Heeryong's opening address and KREI President Kim Changgil's congratulatory speech, the conference consisted of the following presentations: "The Current Status and Future Development Direction of Jeju Mandarins" by the Jeju provincial government; "Trends of and Outlook for Supply and Demand of Mandarins and Fruit Trees" by the Department of Agricultural Outlook; "Trends in Mandarin and Fruit Tree Markets" by Seoul Fruit & Vegetable Co.; and "The Outlook for Mandarin and Fruit Tree Growth" by Jeju Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services. The presentations were followed by a discussion among experts from academia and related institutions.
 

Before the event that day, KREI's Department of Agricultural Outlook concluded a memorandum of understanding with Jeju Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services to respond to changes in agricultural conditions at home and abroad and closely cooperate for information exchange on the agricultural outlook and agricultural supply and demand.
